Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
Parent Teacher Organization Organization operates as a cooperative
group of parents and teachers. The primary goals of the PTO involve
fostering communication between faculty, parents, students, and
the parish community. The PTO helps to integrate the resources of
the students, parents, staff, and parish in order to help enrich
students' lives and help them achieve their educational objectives.
Through the PTO, parents are not only given opportunities to play
an active role in their students'' education, but are also provided
social avenues through which families, staff, clergy, parish and
the community may come together.
Committees
PTO Room Reps
Room Reps are responsible for attending monthly PTO meetings. They
report to the PTO the events taking place in the individual classrooms.
Theyalso report back to the classrooms what was discussed at the
monthly meetings. Room Reps are responsible for keeping in touch
with the teachers regarding any topics they would like discussed.
They are also responsible for coordinating phone trees for each
class to facilitate rapid disbursement of time sensitive information.
Host Family Program:
This committee links every new St. Rose family with an established
family in order to smooth the transition for parents and students.The
Host Families are available to answer questions and guide the new
familes through their first months at St. Rose.
Pizza Lunch Program:
This committee organizes the weekly pizza lunch fundraisers. Traditionally,
the weeks' proceeds benefit either the 7th Grade Catalina Trip fund
or the PTO fund depending on the week. A 7th Grade parent organizes
volunteers for the 7th Grade's lunches each month, and a PTO member
organizes volunteers for the alternate weeks.
Harvest Festival:
This event is oftentimes PTO's biggest fundraising event each year.
It is held in the Parish Hall the weekend closest to Halloween.
It is an opportunity for the young children of the community to
come together to show off their costumes, play carnival games and
receive treats. It can be a safe alternative or an addition to neighborhood
trick-or-treating. Usually a light dinner is offered for a fee.
Santa's Workshop:
This event is offered as a means for kids to get into the holiday
spirit of gift making and giving. Two sessions are usually offered
the first weekend in December. For a fee to cover costs, students
may come and make simple gifts to give to family members or friends
for Christmas. Sessions are supervised so parents may go get a bit
of shopping done without children in tow.
Teacher Appreciation Week:
This is our opportunity to say thank you to the faculty and staff
of St. Rose School and Church. It is usually held the first week
in May. Staff are presented with small gifts during the week, and
invited to a luncheon on the final day.
Communications Committee:
This committee will be working towards improving communication between
all members of the Faculty, Staff, Parents, and various Boards and
Committees which help St. Rose to run efficiently.
School Advisory Council (SAC)
The School Advisory Council is an advisory body for St. Rose Catholic
School. It shall exercise general financial policy making, excluding
any and all matters pertaining to the hiring and termination of
personnel. They assist in giving financial direction and long range
planning to Saint Rose Catholic School.
School Advisory Council meetings are held monthly and all interested
parties are invited. The SAC is an appointed advisory body which
supports the principal and the pastor in the financial and developmental
needs of the school. Subcommittees include: Development, Staff Retention,
Recruitment, Capitol Development.
