2nd Grade
Second grade is full of many different experiences. I believe that
children learn best when directly involved in the process. Examples
of activities include "Traveling the world" with personal
passports and guest speakers. We make fossil prints as we learn
about prehistoric animals. Poetry will be read and illustrated with
a poetry book throughout the year. Reading will involve many different
types of literature. Creative writing is worked on throughout the
year. At the end of the year, we will read and then dramatize fairy
tales. Math instruction will always involve beginning with hands-on
manipulatives before moving to paper pencil work. A highlight of
the year is the reception of the sacraments of Reconciliation and
First Communion.
Service Projects
The second grade class will make and stuff Christmas stockings
for the less fortunate in our community. In the past we have donated
our stockings to both Loaves and Fishes as well as the North County
Women's Resource Center.
Field trips are an important part of our classroom curriculum.
Trips planned for this year include: doctor's office (human body),
Paso Robles Water Dept. (various points around the city), and a
theater trip to the Performing Arts Center in San Luis Obispo.
